The U.K. saw an increase in company incorporations during 2022

With life slowly beginning to return to some semblance of normality during 2022 after 2 years of lockdowns, there was a record number of new companies formed in the UK. 805,141 company incorporations were recorded across the country: a 4.3% rise from 2021. Giving that in 2021 the number of new incorporations in the country fell for the first time since 2017, to see record breaking numbers returning is a promising development for UK businesses.

With 578,679 businesses closing their doors over the course of the year, the total number of businesses registered in the UK at the end of 2022 was 5,236,227 – 4.6% more companies than the preceding year.
